Week nine reflections

I had a chat on Team teaching for a teacher that was asking general ideas about team teaching. I did a assessment on it recently so i gave her a little run down on what i knew about it.

The eCentre tasmania, was the Web site that I had a chat on and this is where you can see it.

Net generation

I think that i can relate to the net generation ways of thinking. I’m on the cusp of generation x and net generation. It is interesting to think of how influencial the net generation seems to be, as they are able to pick up technology and just run with it. They seem to be able to use technology to their benifit when ever necessisary – yet they still like the interactive part of being a human, eg face-to-face communication.

More on desktop mapping; By Steve Burt on August 16, 2005 in Emerging Technologies. Discuss it below

This was an article from the ed-tech insider; eSchool News online. it briefly discussed the use of online mapping that is now avaiable from google, google earth, microsoft. I clicked onto google earth and was amazed with the images of Hurricane Katrina that appeared on my screen. I have family that experience Hurricane Katrina and now i can invisage exactly what they went through. It was a little overwhelming, yet intreging all the same.
I can see how Steve Burt sees this as a good resource for teachers. The students are provided with a visual image of the country they are looking at etc and use the images in assignments and or as a teaching resource.
Have a look it is great.

WebQuest Site Reading Materials at: http://webquest.sdsu.edu/materials.htm

I found this a great resource to start thinking of ideas for my assignment. I’ve been meaning to look at it and now that i have i think it is something i wouldn’t be able to live without for assignment 1.
I also found it interesting what it said about how webquest can be viewed/ used in the future:
categoies in each field, interactive story, mirco world of information and/or a way a school can portray it’s self on the web.
Thanks for putting this web site up Gerry/Matthew….it is a great eye opener.

Well the “K-12 and the Internet” article was interesting and did have some fun sights and relevant sights to keep in mind when teaching.
it discusses the day old questions of is IT and the internet relevant for students – being in this course, i ofcouse beleave yes it is important and it is the way of the future.
I feel that of course the internet is one of the best ways of resourcing information, but i understand the fustrations of having so much informaiton at your hand.
I enjoyed this article….interesting and helpfull.
